I Am Maria!

It's my dream....so what do I do?

Oh my goodness! The Sound of Music is making it's way to broadway again. I LOVE that musical, it happens to be one of my favourites, and has been so for a long time. When I was just a little kid, both of my sisters got to play Von Trapp children, but I wasn't able to, because I wasn't at the right age...it was devastating. I REALLY want to go audition, but I'm scared out of my mind and I don't really have any support...mostly because I didn't tell anyone.

I realize most people don't read journal entries, but I'm stumped! I really want to chase my passion, but I'm so bad at fighting for what I want. I'd rather let someone else do it.

The answer...I should do it. Right?...Oh, I don't know.

Won't someone just please tell me. I'm really good at taking direction.

hows that for direction? :D

seriously, if you want to do anything broadway, you have to be able to read music, belt songs, dance, and do it all while acting. And youd have to find out if sound of music will even have an open audition. sometimes you have to be invited to an audition, not just everyone can come in.

But if you know this stuff, and you really want to do this, I say go for it. You dont want to be telling your grandkids one day, "you know, sonnyjim, I could have been Maria Von trappe in Sound of Music! on broadway! EH? now get me my prune juice." :)

AHaha!! Well you're absolutely right! I know music, dance, acting...all that jazz...I just soak it in like a sponge! I love it! I'm just really starting to doubt myself...and it really sucks because audtions are coming up REALLY soon! and I have NO WAY of getting there! :( I wish I'd have heard about it sooner!

And the sad thing is, they ARE open audtions...which is REALLY rare! It's going to be on TV publicized and they said it's a "chance for those that, otherwise, won't get their big break." I know the chance is slim, but it's SOOO much better than what I'm doing now!

Keep your fingers crossed and send up a prayer to the "man upstairs." (and I don't mean creepy Jim)

hahahahaha dont worry, creepy jim will hear no prayers from me. GAH this is such a great opportunity! I mean, open auditions for those who need their big break? they might as well have sent you a formal invite. Arent there any buses/trains/ friends that could get you a ride to NYC?

So...I went....I did it. Haha! Only DA users (I'm assuming you're the only one that read it) my family, and 2 friends knew I was doing it. Of course, I didn't get it, I'm rather young and still unexperienced...but that wasn't the point. I NEEDED to get out there and take charge or my life! This was a HUGE step for me! And the good news is, I didn't freeze, have a heart attack or seizure. I did fairly well, not to toot my own horn. :) I did my best and I was proud...haha! Thanks for the encouragement.

WOW!! thats really awesome! That must have been so nerve wracking. You should be uber proud of yourself! Im sure next time auditions for the musical roll around they'll remember you! :)
